FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I expect during my first massage?
Our personalized assessment process begins with a brief health history form. Afterwards the therapist will ask you general questions to establish which areas you would like worked on and if there are any conditions that need to be addressed . The therapist will evaluate your condition and see if you have any presenting complaints.

Where will my massage take place?
Your massage will take place in a private, warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music is played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

What do I wear during the massage?
For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear your undergarments. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress and you will be covered with a sheet at all times except for the specific area being worked on.

What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?
Relax and make yourself comfortable. Some clients close their eyes and completely relax during a massage session, while others prefer to talk. It is YOUR massage, so do whatever seems best for you. Your therapist will adjust your position as needed. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

What is involved in a Chair Massage?
A Chair Massage is conducted in a specially designed chair. The ergonomic design supports the front of the body and allows access to the back, arms and hands.  You remain clothed and oil and lotion are seldom used.

What if I fall asleep?
Some people do fall asleep. If you fall asleep your therapist will wake you up at the end of your session. If you prefer not to sleep, let your therapist know in advance.

Should therapeutic massage by painful?
A massage for general relaxation should not hurt. However, depending on the specific type of therapy and certain medical conditions, some discomfort can occur. If your muscles are sore or tight, you may feel some discomfort until the muscles relax. Any therapy that deals directly with soft tissue can become uncomfortable when treating irritated areas. Some clients describe the therapeutic work as hurting good, meaning they feel the difference between constructive and destructive discomfort.

Should I eat before a massage?
We recommend that you do not eat one hour before your session, since your body is focused on digestion. You probably will not want to eat a large meal and then lie on a massage table. Often appetite is increased after massage so we recommend waiting until after your session.

What are some of the benefits of getting a massage?
Just to name a few of the benefits, Massage Therapy can reduce stress and anxiety, provide general relaxation, prevent or reduce Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) from physical activity, relieve painful and tight muscles, improve blood and lymph circulation, remove metabolic waste, improve immunities, reduce fascia adhesions, strengthen and tone muscles, increase deep restorative sleep, reduce injury recovery time, and increase sports performance levels.
